What are the historical legacies, ideas, and goals that shape the current Black Lives Matter movement?
In this course we will aim to better understand the current debate(s) in the US. To this end, different cultural texts like essays, poems, speeches, films, and music videos will be examined. The course is structured chronologically: we’ll move from the 19th century to the present day.
Dates: Mondays, 17:00–18:00. First session: August 10th, last session: December 14th.
- Advanced English skills.
- Willingness to occasionally spend about 30 minutes in preparation for certain sessions.
